I'm probably missing some fundamental understanding of how this is supposed to work. I tried using all the guides I found, but none worked so far. When I use the terminal from VSC, all git authentications work fine, since it's probably basically just an ssh connection to the remote host.Īlso all the local (inside remote-ssh) git functionality works fine. IdentityFile ~/.ssh/github_private_key.ppk Anyways, I configured everything correctly there just in case, but does not seem to help. Which is kind of confusing, since all guidance I've read so far seems to hint that I should be changing my ~/.ssh/config & referring to keys on my local machine. Please make sure you have the correct access rightsįrom the Output of VSC, I can see that it seems to be using the git on the Remote host, since this is the git version the Remote host runs, but my local machine uses a newer one: Validating found git in: git Permission denied (publickey).įatal: Could not read from remote repository. > git pull -tags origin new-time-management Whenever I try to use the Visual Studio Codes' sync button, I get the following error. Running Visual Studio Code (1.65.2) on Windows 10. I've been pulling my hair out with this for a while now. To see all the changes in the working tree since your last commit including new files use: git diff HEAD If you only care about which files are staged, you can of course do a git status, but git diff -staged -name-only will give each staged filename on its own line. Nothing added to commit but untracked files git add git git diff -staged If you'd like to see the staged changes in a diff, you can still use git diff, you just need to pass the -staged flag: echo "Hello, world" > git status This commit will be pushed to the server when you run "git push". If you typed in "git add _", the file will be included in your next commit. My screenshot seems spare as I currently have no changes in that status. It has nice panels to show you staged, not staged, etc. You may find it helpful to use a visual git tool such as gitx (Mac) or gitg (Linux), it shows in git status, so yes it will be committed when you git commit it.
